Weight Loss - removing door speakers

I love my stereo but think that I will do fine with my dash speakers and rear speakers alone. I guess the door speakers weigh at least 10lbs and they are coming OUT !

Have you already bagged the subwoofer? It's good for 12# more!

Please post weight of speakers when you get them out and if the covers reattach without the speakers in place?

The speaker covers are part of the door panel and the speakers themselves a completely separate internal unit, I will post a pic when out

Ok that was actually easier and more fun than I thought

1. Physically pull out the bottom of the door panel ( push on clips )

2. At each corner push in the speaker cover into the door panel

3. Drop down the speaker cover under the door panel and take it out

4. Simply unscrew the speakers

5. Reassemble

The door speakers are the heaviest about 3lbs each and I also took out the front speakers from under the windscreen and left the covers in place too. All in all about another 10lbs out.

So now I am left with the rear speakers only and as I have my sound insulation out the engine anyway adds some base sound. Its also kinda funky as having all the noise, engine and music coming from the rear of the car somehow adds to the whole 911 experience.

Thanks for the write up, pictures and weights. Have you removed the sub box as well?
