I guess my personal feeling on this is that censorship in any form is usually a "slippery slope" that is best avoided...even if we do not like hearing/reading the thoughts of some folks. It shows the strength of a community for it to allow space for community members to say things that we do not want to hear or read. Once we allow censorship to become the norm, one cannot help but wonder if board sponsors will be treated differently than others. I am absolutely not saying that this is what happened here...I just think that most times censorship weakens communities.

Amen to that... and I know what I am talking about, since I make my money by providing and hosting community platforms on the internet.

A mature member of a community is well able to differentiate between reasonable discussions and ppl trying to hijack threads with unfunded accusations.

About the case itself: I don't think that Gunther should fight his war in this forum. It doesn't help anyone if someone tries to bring his anger to public in a forum which is not meant for such discussions. The community of 6speedonline lacks all the background info necessary to be able to judge over that specific case. And nobody is really interested into getting to know all the background info... because (again) THIS is not the forum to discuss such issues.

About the representative of fabspeed who replied upon Gunther's post: IMHO, you shouldn't have reacted, because replying upon such accusations in public is like trying to extinguish fire with kerosene... it only hypes up the discussion and that leaves no choice to the mods/admins than closing or deleting the thread. Instead of reacting in public, you should have sent Gunther a PM to make him edit or delete his post and to continue discussing the whole issue in private. Defending your position in public doesn't help... because this conflict has begun elsewhere and will definitely not end on 6speedonline.com.

Just my 2 cents...

It seems whenever there is a post like this, a frenzy of pirhanna's jump in, even though they don't necessarily have a legitimate beef with the company. To me that is not right...just my opinion of course...snip...
Respectfully, I ask - So what?

You can ignore it if you don't like it, or not. How do you know posters don't have a "legitmate beef"? Who is judging?

I know of 2 threads that were recently deleted. This one concerned Fabspeed products. I noticed that Fabspeed is a board sponsor - could that be why the threads were deleted?

A forum is valuable for consumers to compare notes about a company. If this place is so commercialized that it cannot tolerate negative reports on its sponsors, then that would be a shame.

I totally agree with Darren. There is no product that I know of that appeals to every consumer; in fact, there are great products, such as Porsche, that on occasion break or otherwise disappoint owners. Bottom line: We still like our cars and most of us on this board like to modify and play with our cars. I've owned a number of Porsche turbos and have had several different exhaust systems. I like Fabspeed; it meets my expectations. It is loud, I like that. If you don't like its sound or whatever, don't buy it. Get what you want. But if we go around wacking suppliers and manufacturers that try to bring us parts to help us enjoy these cars, pretty soon they will simply leave a contentious market to the real *******s.

Not really wanting to continue a somewhat tired debate...and I certainly agree Daren that it is a great and fun community. However, I really believe that there is strength in letting each of us decide what we find valuable and appropriate postings that are therefore worth reading. The alternative is a somewhat elitist perspective wherein a small group decides for us all. I do not personally feel that such a paradigm helps this board to grow in value and entertainment to our P-Car community. And, I really do not think that without censorship it will just become a soapbox for people to spam businesses. Most of us are way too busy to spend the time to post unproductive spam.

This is my final posting on this...as if anyone cared :-))
