My road to 500 rwhp (hopefully)
Edwin, those are great results! Go easy on it and the clutch should last for a while. Practice what I like to call "mechanical empathy."
Mikelly- I feel your frustration regarding the negative responses often posted to people's acheivements. But there are too many big talkers on the internet to allow claims without good evidence to back it up. I think 6speed members have done a good job keeping the BS away. Unfortunately, sometimes the wheat goes out with the chaff.
The OP (M32) has done an admirable job in this thread. Methodical and scientific. He even started it without knowing the outcome. Few forum members have the ***** to do that.

I vote no more dyno sheets on the forum. Too subjective. Feel free to email or PM them to whoever want to see them, but we should only post 60-130's from now on, the REAL performance bench mark.

Long time no see/talk. Hope all is well with the family!
I'll be the first to admit that I don't know everything (or much) about dynos, peak power, A/F ratio, etc but I'm definitely trying to learn as much as I can from members and friends so I'm definitely not out to make any unwarranted/baseless claims. I did try my best to do a before and after dyno to see what the real gains are, which is prob one of the biggest reasons why I went RWD so I can get dyno runs. This whole thread was really just for me to share with everyone what kind of HP gains I got with my mods and tune for my specific car.
All I know is that if you see these lights coming up behind you and you're in a camry and accord or anyother 4 dr jdm sedan, better watch out for me

The erratic AF shows in you erratic power delivery. I think you will see a much smoother curve once the AF issue is resoled.
BTW do you have upgraded wastegates? They will really bolster your torque curve and will solidify your HP delivery.

Yes, I hope to resolve the AF issue soon. Powell is nice enough to meet up with me with his durametric cable to data log sometime this week. I'll definitely be posting updates as soon as I get them.
Yes, my WG are upgraded 1 bar via blouch Turbo

I was having this discussion with Powell but wouldn't there be variable factors in 60-130 times as well? Wouldn't someone running in cold NE weather have better times than someone in hot, humid tx?

Congrats on the upgrade, Edwin! It's like getting a new car when doing HP upgrades like this.
Are you going to do any 60-130 runs? I would be very interested in seeing the results, and I'm sure many others would also. I'm sure someone in Houston has a P-Box they would let you use.
What are your impressions after switching to RWD? Is the car a lot more squirrelly? I'm thinking of doing this upgrade, but am hesitant to pull the trigger.
Congrats again, and enjoy in good health!

+1 on what Adam said. 60-130 times are long overdue for a k16/16g setup..It will be great to see these.
Congrats on the new setup...end of the day its the fact that you are enjoying the car more that matters ... I am sure Tony will work out your afr.

Adam, I should be up and running by the end of the weekend i'm thinking about giving RWD a shot i'll keep you posted.
Ed, I've got the line on a Driftbox let me know if you want to get some times.

That's totally ridiculous. Dynos are not subjective at all. Yes there are factors that can underrate or overrate power and torque which have been discussed already. But they are very helpful for things other than max HP/TQ. For example, power delivery across the rpm range and the "area under the curve." You can't see that in a 60-130 time. Back to back testing as M32 did in the same facility under similar conditions will provide excellent information regarding modifications. Stop the nonsense people.

Thanks for the congrats
After dinner, I took it out for a 20 min spin...with the moms... I warmed the car up and told her to hold on.... third gear at around 4500rpm is when I hear a "whooaa"
Here's my impression so far. I think the combination of 16g turbos and RWD is a must. I really like the pull when I ease into the throttle to full boost and its enough to put a
in my face. My impressions of a RWD on a 16g car is like a porcupine (cute when it wants to be but can be a bad-a$$ when it's provoked). The RWD is very tame and easy to control around town and low boost but if I go full throttle, the rears will break loose with ease. If I ease into the throttle, the car just goes. I personally can imagine AWD on 16gs as nothing more than a exciting ride. this is more of a thrill ride.I am not sure how RWD will be on the K24/18s. I'm sure it's managable but with such high HP, I"m curious to see how much traction one gets in full throttle. Granted, I'm just talking with no basis (I've never sat in one before) but I can just imagine 100 more hp than I have now... I think the rear would just be going all over the place. Granted there are some people here with that RWD K24/18 and prob love it and have no problems. Maybe it just takes getting used to? Enough guessing...anyone with this setup want to chime in?
Ben, can it be done at MSR?
Edwin
I highly recommend not running any 60-130 time until you are certain the car is running as well as it possibly can. We have many kits running current with out issue, Im not sure we have to work out an a/f issue, Im fairly sure we will have to work out an actual car issue.
If the car is running as well as Steve and Edwin say, Im sure its something minor.
The car is making about 540 crank currently, I would like to see it 565+ by the time we're done!

Tony,
When you say car issue, can you give me some examples of what may cause this? Intake?
Edwin
FPR wacky? Looked like some weird spiking...vacuum line on regulator?
Keep in mind I was also told there was very little air flow in the dyno room the car was tested in. It sounded like there was only enough fans for the radiators or the intercoolers but not both. Improper fan's on a 996tt can cause lower power out put and a/f discrepancies due. IAT correction is largely used for fuel correction in the ecu.....
