I have 9 pgs of printout #'s any other suggestions would be appreciated. Have FVD flash, BMC, and div. valves here and ready to go in ASAP. Thanks , Scott

Scott,

For your reference , i purchased an one owner clean 2003 car with similar options minus the nav with 26k miles for about the same price last december. So i say you can work the price down a bit ...but if this is the one ..just go for it. I spent way too much time to buy my car...that's the time i could be enjoying driving.

I would say if the PPI checks good , which looks like it is. The range 2 overev's of 5 seem like a low number to me. My car had 0 type 2,but that might be rare. The 1044.4h /1040.4h means when these overrev's occured, to me it seems like its very recent (last 4.4 hrs of driving). Type 2 are overev's which occur from downshifting or what many would call moneyshifting. Do a search on this topic "type 1 and type 2 over rev" its been discussed extensively. Based on your data , i would not be concerned if everything else checks out good.

This might not be a problem if you test drove the car enough and made sure nothing was wrong with the engine.

Good luck.

There is much written here on 2nd gear popout. It is a problem with some of these cars and very expensive to fix. Most of the cars do not have this issue but beware of the ones that do.

Anything can be fixed, but it is major dollars(last i heard 10k+). If it had the problem , i would totally walk away. There are way too many cars now in the market, just wait and find a good one.

Btw...do you know how to check for pop out? accelerate hard and deccelerate in 2nd gear a whole bunch of times and check to see if it still stays in 2nd gear.

I am sure others with more exp will chime in.

5 range 2 ignitions is very low indeed and nothing to worry about. An ignition is recorded each time a spark plug fires so that's not even 2 revolutions of over-rev.

Sounds like it's in good shape plus if it's got the options you're looking for, I think it's a fair price. If you want to spend $5K less, the quality of car would likely change - either more miles, not as good condition, not right color etc etc. Ofcourse, if you're patient you might be able to find the perfect car for a few $K less, but no telling how long that will take.

It is not $10k unless you take it to the stealership. There are several porche transmission specialists who can do this for under $5000 (possibly $3000) depending on what parts you need replaced.

And if they know what they're doing they will use GT2 gears and synchros...fix it for good.
