CV joint failing at only 10K miles???

CV joint failing at only 10K miles???
I think my front left CV joint is starting to go. I'm getting a klunking sound
when making tight radius turns. The CV boots are not ripped and the car only has 10K miles on it! I've never heard of CV's letting go so soon.
Have any of you heard of such premature failure? Or could it be something other than CV joints?
