Obviously you know my feeling of BMW's current direction, however, as buttugly as the new 5 is, I saw some spy pics of the next M5 which somehow make the 5 look really good. As soon as I find it, I'll give you the link to the pic that looks good.

Well, I´ve seen quite a few 530´s on the road this past month and I have to admit that I actually like the car. At least the rear, the front turn signals are just weird...

I've seen the spy photos and test videos of the E60 M5 as well.

It looks better, but still not great. Also, it helps when all the exterior trim is "blacked out" instead of chrome. Any car looks better blacked out, especially ugly ones.

Rumor has it that due to complaints the 7 series rear end styling is going to be revamped. We can only hope....

 

the new 6 and especially m6 doesn't look bad and he did design it...

 

I think it'll take getting use to, the new 7 series has definately grown on me and I now love it, but it took 3 people in my family to get one for me to start swaying my opinion.


Why even try to get rid of the guy, if you don't like the car don't buy it, there are many other options

 

I admit, it has grown on me a little as well. If it is black with the 19's, it looks ok. I hate the front end though. Forget the bangle butt, the eyebrow lights to me are a bigger problem. But, that to me isn't the point. I have never really had to have a bimmer grow on me and have never seen so much debate. I remember seeing my first e39 M5, I was in awe. I had to have it. All that is gone. I see BMW's and they look more like Pontiacs, are becoming less of a drivers car(i-drive, dash no longer tilted towards driver, active steering, 4600 lb 7 series.)It is ridiculous and a shame. I was a huge BMW fan and have owned 5 spanning from 1999-2002. They say the 6 is better, but, why the bangle butt?? IMO Bangle is a jag off and he ruined the 2nd best marque out there. What were the board of directors thinking hiring a guy from Detroit to lead their design into the 21st century??BMW is in trouble, it will take a couple years, but, they are in trouble. The 7 has depreciated so bad I can only imagine the reprocussions to BMW finance for their inflated lease residuals and specials. Their bread and butter the 5 is brutal. The front is slopped in and looks like a pontiac grand prix. The lines are terrible and active steering has taken the fun out. Sorry for long post, I am so passianate about BMW and the current design trend is such a shame.

BMW is redesigning the eyebrow lights as well as the bangle butt. When news of this was leaked, BMW tried to save face, pushed the refreshed 7 out to mid 04 and claimed it was just the typical mid-life refreshing. It originally was going to be uncovered at frankfurt this year, but, BMW couldn't/wouldn't admit the original design is a failure. It will now be a 2005 model and from the spy shots I have seen, looks much better.
