Enzo, SLR and poor CGT??
Enzo, SLR and poor CGT??
Why do the Enzo and SLR sell for way over msrp and the CGT seems to be selling at or below msrp? I think it may be the bland style or Porsche just does not have what it takes to be a serious super car contender??
Re: Enzo, SLR and poor CGT??
I don't think so. The 959 held its own when it came out. I think Porsche has just as much ability, if not more, than Mercedes to be a serious contender. I think it has to do with production numbers more than anything. Enzo is 399 units, that can't be compares to 1500 (or more) CGT's.

Local Merc dealer has two SLR's on showroom floor for $750,000. That is a $400,000 market adjustmnet. They lost a deal to a guy who just paid $600,000 for one in Cali.
CGT production numbers are too high and the styling is so-so. Enzo has all the poser market locked up. The SLR has great marketing behind and outrageous styling.
I also think the Porsche buyer stops at about $130 - $150 for a new vehicle. Porsche is not exclusive enough of a brand to support $200,000 + vehicles yet (i.e. GT2 and CGT). They may build a great sports car but it is overlooked buy the true high end buyer.

No I have not. Sorry Sir...I just prefer Porsche over anything else. Actually I would prefer a 73 rs over a CGT....just my little opinion.....dont get huffy about it. I could not afford any of the 3 cars... For the record though....if I had to choose between any of them and could not sell them...or keep my 2 P-cars...I would keep mine. "85' 3.2 , 69' 911s"....which I think are better than anything made today.
Although I am very tempted towards picking up a 04' GT3.

Porsche is ****ing up big time and making it very expensive to own one of their cars.

what about the fact that the turbo is so easily upgraded? There are numerous cars on this board with over 600hp and you don't hear about one blown engine. In my head I couldn't justify the 400k price on a CGT when for 200k I could have a 600hp turbo with 4wd AND a backseat!! No 360CS or SL65 owner does a stage 4 kit to their respective cars(not that one is available but the point is the major engine mod that a lot of turbo owners make), thus the jump in performance to an Enzo or SLR is fairly significant. I'm not sure there's that big a jump from a stage 4 turbo to a CGT. Yeah...you might gain a tenth here or there...but is it worth the 200k msrp difference?

if I am given a choice between those three, I will definitely pick Enzo because it is the most exotic and rare between those three but CGT comes second, noway I am spending that much money for SLR, this thing is ugly, at least to me.
