waste gate springs
waste gate springs
Hi guys!
Little problem with my tuned TT (560hp/800Nm):
When cold weather (5°C) and especially since I got big intercoolers, my waste gates (on my K24's) do not keep the pressure on last gears. (even by 12°C with the IC's)
I checked my WG springs with a Mytivac pump: 0.3Bar starting opening and 0.7 fully open; I modified with the nuts and now 0.5bar starting opening but still 0.7 fully open and same...
Do you think I need hard WG springs (1.0bar) sold by Evoms and others or the problem is somewhere else?
(my boost pressure is 1.2bar)
Thanks for your advices!
Pascal

In fact the car goes, but when full gas in 6th for example, it stops to take revs and I can hear a sound like "FLPFLPFLP" like an exhaust leak, I cut a little throttle and it runs again...
But never when 20°C and more.
The boost is Ok, 1.2bar, but sometime does not hold : "FLPFLPFLP"?
The Ecu is good (Sportec) and the WG are K24's stock, normal?
thx

FlpFlpFlp? Or is it PlfPlfPlf? Press one for english.....
If you're running stock springs, you definitely need the upgrades. I got mine from UMW and the car grabs and holds 1.2 bar when I get on it. Upgraded springs are one of the cheapest and best upgrades you can get for your car. Under $300 for the setup....but then you have to cut open your actuator cans and install the springs...not rocket science, but not for a novice either.
We do not have the temperature deviations you have....so I can't address what your temperature extremes might be doing.....but Kevin or Tony can probably add their expertise to the mix.

"Flpflpflp"!
Ok, so where can I order those parts? I only know Evoms, but Chuck you speak about less than 300$, where?
And who are Tony and Kevin, sellers?
Will it be definitely finished with "Flpflpflp"?!
Thx

I have the same question, who sells 1 bar WG Springs? They shouldnt be that expensive. Can I pull them from an aftermarket wastegate like synapse or Tial?

I have a question:
If you have stock ECU and bolt hard WG springs, you get a little more boost that the stock program allows: Gain.
If you have stock WG springs and 1.2Bar ECU, would you get more than 1.2Bar with the special WG springs or will it help your WG to hold better this pressure?
Because my need is not more pressure, it is only holding the pressure waited by the ECU to enjoy my car "safely".
Thx specialists!

I switched out the wastegate springs on my X50 for the UMW wastegate kit and left the springs at Adam's garage....you might try giving Adam (that's his calll sign on Rennlist) a PM and see if he's still got them. I dont know if they're 1 bar springs...but they were the stock 02 X50 springs.
