How many different OEM Stereo/Nav units are there?

I think I've found 4 different units - two which may be Nav and two that are not. Were there more? Is one of these Navs better than the other? The lower CD slot on the newer Nav seems so much older styling than the other one. I would have guessed these were the other way around. Oh, and then I guess you could have also added a changer in the trunk - to any of these?

This is in an '05 Turbo S. I'm also seeing what appears to be the same in an '03 and '04. How many CDs play (single unit plus changer)?

This is in an '02 - Is this Nav, or just a nice screen? Also found this in an '01. How many disc changer does this have?

This is in an '02 (and '01 I presume)?:

And this is in an '03 (and newer I presume)?

I can't really answer, but the 03-04-05 should be the same and is M.O.S.T. which means fiberoptic connections from the head unit to the amps and to the CD changer. A real problem for me, as I want to replace it.

OK unit, not great. Personally I'd go with a decent aftermarket in the same spot.

Go with an after market unit because none of the stock units are very good and the maps cannot be updated.

That's only true of older models. 2003+ can get current maps. I just did for my 2004.

You can add the changer to the CDR23 MOST units, don't know about pre-most.

One cd inside up to 6 in the changer...you may need the nav cd inserted which is why there is an internal cd slot.

How does one go about getting the updated maps for an '03? Do you have to buy from the dealer? Is it CD or DVD based? (Meaning is there one map for the country, or are there "regions"?)

So, what is the unit below the Nav, above the HVAC? I was guessing that it was 4 disc changer of sorts, but maybe not? Is it just 4 buttons, or do slots open up for CDs?
