Extended Warranty in CALI
I have not found ANY extended warranty policies valid in California, due to our liberal litigation laws favoring consumers.
I know that car dealers still sell coverage in California, but since they have a monopoly, you generally have to bend over and break out the vaseline.
Beverly Hills Porsche just quoted me the following for my 2001 Turbo, with 23K miles:
3 year / 60K total odometer warranty - $3300
4 year / 60K total odo. warranty - $3541
Both of these are for Western General Platinum coverage.
I know that out of Cali., one can buy similar policies for around $2K.
The dealer offered to buyback, certify, and re-sell me my car with a proper Porsche warranty, but in addition to the certification charge I would have to pay sales tax. This makes it more expensive than the aftermarket warranty!!
What have you other Californians done??

OK I contacted the fleet manager @ my local Ford dealer (I know him personally). I asked if I could buy a contract on my Turbo through him.
He checked, and he said that he can. They sell EasyCare Service Contracts (subsidiary of Ford). TotalCare, their highest coverage, is $1450 for 3-year / 60K, $200 deductible . He is offering it to me @ cost + a modest markup. It sounds too cheap to be good.
I am going to head over there and pick up a copy of the contract to see how inclusive it really is.
Anyone have any experience with Easy Care coverage??

trojanman,
I dont have any experience with Easy Care but I do with Western General. They were kinda ****** but they did replace a motor in my BMW some time ago. Not great options but that may be all we have. Let me know what you find out.
Thanks
Ron
By the way, did you go to USC??

I looked around for a while. No-one but the dealership was interested in covering a twin-turbo. Pls post if you the Ford thing works out for you. Seems really inexpensive (i.e., too good to be true?) But if all is OK, maybe your fleet manager would like a 2nd customer?
