Thanks all for advice and input. Looks like I've got some good options in Chicago for check-ups/maintenance.

The oil change procedure on these cars is a bit different than the average "Joe" at Pep Boys is used to. There are at least 2 places to drain the oil from and if you go the full way also 2 more points at the turbos. If they only drained the 2-3 quarts that came out of the crankcase and replaced 5 quarts back into the system you are definitely overfilled which could throw CEL's. What does your guage show when you check the oil?

if you overfill the engine with oil, the hole intake system is under oil. Pressure side of turbos and the intercooler. Correct the oil level and it need a lot of time if the oil in the system is blown away.

If the engine is off, the oil is running into the intakeplenum behind the throttle body .......

Check the oil level...does it show full to the top bar? 0w-40 Mobil 1 is a good choice...vario cam needs specific oil. Wrong oil? take it to dealer/indy and have it done again imo. Smoke on start up "once in awhile" is normal. Congrats on the new car. You have found a very good resource in 6speed.

Thanks all. This forum is fantastic, and I spent all day on it instead of working today!

Just checked oil level upon return from home today. Showing as overfilled (it looked like there was 1+ bar filled above the full line on the picture). Should have thought of that right away. It looks like the guys who changed my oil probably didn't drain the 2nd pan.

Am taking it to VFC engineering in Ravenswood, came recommended by a few folks and they'll see me tomorrow. Will re-do the oil change, do a once over to make sure I'm not in any other trouble, and begin my road to performance upgrades!
