Amp install question

Ok, I see many threads on aftermarket stereo installs. All I want to do is replace the stock amp with an aftermarket one and upgrade the speakers. I dont want to remove the factory headunit. If anyone can help with what I would need to do I would appreciate it or have specific equipment that they have used

First step is to post what year car you have, that makes a huge difference.

A high end Line Output Converter should do the job for you. Either a JL Cleansweep or any of the AudioControl units. I'm not sure of the wiring schematic, though.

Not that I am aware of - you also have to watch that removal of the amp doesn't disable the audio system via the anti-theft system. I had factory nav, non bose '01, and when I tried to replace just one component (the head unit), the whole thing shut down, so I had to replace the amp as well. I Macgyver'ed a system to use the existing speaker wires, but it ain't pretty.

Macgyver'd .

I'll be using that one from now on. My wife says I'm always rigging stuff up to work.
