Can you install a harness without a rollbar in the 996TT?

From what I heard the answer is no but wanted to see if anyone has found an alternative. The car is my daily driver I need to use the rear seats so dont want to install the rollbar which blocks the rear seats. In my previous M3s I was able to use the Schroth Harnesses (4 point) that would simply clip to the existing points and would be great if there was a similar solution here. Thanks

a harness without a compatible seat will not work as well in a crash as the stock seatbelt/seat combination...no track body will pass a harness non-racing seat setup in tech, with a proper seat you can use a harness bar instead of a roll bar but your access to the rear seat will still be hampered when it is in place..

Yes, this question is assuming stock seats. I could consider installing "gt3/track seats" if that gave me some options with a harness but I also hear that track seats can get pretty uncomfortable for a daily driver.

Is there a roll bar that you can easily install/remove to provide full access to the rear seats?

I just bought Tom Kerr's GT3 seats and find myself with the same question / dilema - I need to get a harness (actually two) and apparently I'm going to have to take the plunge and go with the full roll cage. If there's a way to attach the harness without a full cage, I'd love to hear about it.

google Brey-Krause, or Livermore Performance...there are harness bars that are easier to install and remove than a tequipment roll bar...

The Sparco Harness bar is one option, I am selling a brand new one here, at a drastically reduced price if you are interested..

This BK harness is the easiest to remove

R1035 Truss Style Harness Mount was developed in response to customer requests for a truss-style harness mount for the Porsche 996 coupe. Like all Brey-Krause harness mounts, the R-1035 uses only existing mounting points. No drilling, welding or fabrication is required for installation. Once installed, the main portion can be unbolted in ten minutes, allowing use of the rear seats.

Installation: Bar attaches to rear strut tops & seat belt mounting points and is easy to remove/reinstall.

SeattleDL is infamous around these parts
I've used that B-K harness bar - great setup. Fairly quick to remove, and easy to install. Works well for my DD with two car seats...

I may be going the dedicated track car route soon if someone is interested in it.

Thanks - The BK bar with GT3 seats looks like the set-up I need. How do you guys like the GT3 seats for everyday driving? I love the looks and I am sure they are great at the track but are they a pain for everyday driving. I am doing ~5 driving schools a year so wondering how painful the seats are for the other 350 days of the year....

I find mine very comfy...even on long drives to the track...btw...if you get the Euro GT3 seats get the scroth gt3 harness because it has the correct lap belt attachments for the seats and will make your install much easier

I saw 2 sets of GT3 sets at suncoats -
First ones for $2800
http://e-partssales.com/Merchant2/me...ory_Code=evoms

and Euro ones for $13000

Are you referring to the Euro ones listed here? (clearly outside of my budget!)

The GT3 seats place me too upright for my liking. I bought the Brey Krause brackets allow you to lower the rear of the seat which I find much more comfortable and a whole lot better with a helmet and HANS. They are now quite comfortable for driving around town.
