I like your thoughts...and you already know the following:

Not a direct quote, but 'you need experience in adverse conditions - rain, wind, dirty tracks, bumps - if you want to be any good in the ideal situations.' This from the Flying Lizards' Jorg Bergmeister at last Summer's Mid Ohio Porscheplatz.

Update

I just got back from my DE at Lime Rock Park. Yes, it did rain off and on all day, but had an absolute blast. I had great instructor and really was impressed with what our cars can do at speed, braking, and cornering in the rain.

Few observations, not much rain actually gets in the car even with the windows down. Avoid standing water, if possible. RainX on the windshield and side mirrors helped a lot.

Hopefully, my next DE at Monticello will be nice and sunny, but in case it isn't I know I can still have fun in the rain.

I got to drive in a light rain this weekend at Roebling, was quite fun to be honest. Granted it wasn't a full on downpour, but still made me cautious of my surroundings. Made me slow down my driving a bit, while not slowing down my thought process while track. I'd gladly do it again, but would probably pass if it were my first time on a particular track.

I loved the rain. At speed, no rain gets in...only when you are still.....at an AWD turbo is just amazing in the rain. I had street tires...hugely fast....I got pretty fast on the straights with the instructor pushing. We may have hit 100. I don't remember. It was amazing.

I just washed the car when I got home. No big deal.

+1!! Great time to learn the wet line! As one of my first instructors told me 10yrs ago," Stay off the dry line, all the spilled oil & anti-freeze is on the dry line!"

JB, thank you, yes, I was absolutely amazed that in the pouring rain you can go from 110mph to a hard brake from the Lime Rock Front Straight to Big Bend in control on street tires.

It rained really hard on the way home, but I'll give the car a good bath today.

Once a year is great to brush up on your car control skills. I love it, it's fun. But not on a regular basis.

rain rules for learning car control

Drive at 7/10--learn car control at lower speeds--this will equate to more confidence when it dries up.

I concur with others about the interior---it stays dry at speed.
