This guy just wanted to start a thread to read about some good races involving 996tt's and I wouldnt mind reading them just to get a sense of what our cars can be capable of.

did you really accuse me of giving you negative rep?..... really? thats incredible haha.
I dont give out "rep" unless someone educates us all. and neg rep is really worthless.
but thanks for your explaination and I stand corrected. no harm no foul

street racing happens in every city of every state in this country and it is huge. There are usually many meeting places where dozens of cars meet late on Saturdays and other days. These meets are attended by lots of punks that can't drive their cars.

I have driven track events but my car is built more for rollons, and Dr.J I rarely loose to

The cops and cities don't want street racing, but they continue to close down tracks or make it difficult for people to want to run their cars. Maybe the state govs should open old airports and let people go there and run cars instead of destroying the runways to make some stupid set of condos that will turn into a ghetto within a few years.

So everyone street races even some of the old men here that say they don't some kid in a built Sti rolls up on you and says, "hey pops, nice volkswagen", you gonna let that ride

I actually did do this. Guy dropped his clutch hard, a loud grinding noise came out ...he moved forward and then pulled over with his blinkers going. I did not even bother to move off my standard in traffic mode launch (slow, normal)....just tried not to laugh where he could see me in case he got violent. It sounded expensive. It was in Baltimore, MD last year, in Towson.

haha, yup, lots of dummies rollin around. I've seen lots of burnt clutches and blown motors (no rev limiters) on the street.

Oh I forgot to add, that all you guys running 700 bhp plus kits ain't doing it for the track you just don't need an Evoms 780 for track use like the other thread. a stock turbo with tune and exhaust would probably be all you need for a good track car...so go sell crazy somewhere else, cuz I ain't buying

The government isn't going to let people race on runways, because as soon as someone crashes, and someone will sooner or later, they're going to sue. Believe it or not, some condo complexes are very nice and won't turn into "ghettos." The cities like housing because it creates tax revenue. Good idea about using the airports though, but I don't see it happening.

OT: Ohio,

How's that GL 450 as a tow vehicle? Those enclosed trailers are drag beasts. My Toyota Sequoia really struggles with my simple flatbed which I use to tow either my GT2 or my heavier M Coupe. Your Avitar looks like you are booking!

Actually, that picture was of my Touareg. My new GL450 tows even better....I think due mostly to the longer wheel base. Both tow about 7700 lbs with similar V8 hp. I towed that 20' trailer from Ohio to Texas a few weeks ago....3k+ mile round trip, 9.3 average mpg (down from about 16 on the h/w at a similar 75-80 mph average speed. It scaled at 6700 lbs at a truckstop. As long as you weight the tongue properly, it's incredibly stable.

This thread is funny, the way alot of the P-cars are modified makes them not very good track cars. It makes them roll on terrors though but apparently no one street races so they don't know this?

I also agree that racing from a roll does require some experience, and I know TT Porsche's do 130 with the cruise on.
