As threatened earlier on this thread, I plan to do this shortly...and just received my BumperPlugs.com black rear wiper delete plug. I'll try to take a few photos of the inside of the car to help others who are considering this mod too.

You should be able to if its the one without the x-brace.

I just took a quick look at mine, and i don't think i'll be able to take the motor out with my RSS roll bar.

Hey Mark, sent a response to your PM. Basic painting process.... Only thing special is adhesion promoter to ensure paint sticks to the plastic.

The plug I used said it was 1 inch. It would have been nice if it was 1/10 of a mm bigger, but it does fit, and snaps in. You will have to use a clear silicone glue/seal when installing the plug anyway to make sure no water sneaks by.
The adhesion promoter I bought at the autpaint store was a product called "Bulldog", made to ensure bite of paint to plastic.

Well I spent the day today at the Central NY Spring Rally, with about 20 other Porsches, and I received lots of comments about these paint mods. All VERY positive.
Take your time, and if you don't like it, don't worry. Let it dry, scuff it up and do it again till you do.
