Best Clutch for 500-550 HP that uses stock flywheel and throwout bearing?
Best Clutch for 500-550 HP that uses stock flywheel and throwout bearing?
Given the fuss on another thread about throwouts, I'd like to upgrade my clutch but it needs to be:
Stock flywheel. Don't want the rattle.
Full Disc. Puck types in the past for me have been difficult to modulate.
Stock throwout bearing.
So, am I asking too much for a disc and pp that have a stock stack height and will non shudder and hold 500-550 HP ?
Who has experiance?

Ben, did pedal effort increase when you went to this clutch? Personally, after having a 993 with a very heavy pedal, I love the feel of the stock 996TT clutch and don't want to sacrifice that.
IMO, this is your best bet for perfect OEM like driveability and quietness, but with plenty of holding power for a 700HP package:
DMF

Sachs "999" PP modified by clutchmasters

Sachs "race compound disc" - unsprung for lighter weight and better response - equivilent design to 996 GT2 disc, but with enhanced grab compound.

And below I have posted a link with more pictures and the part numbers - this is all you need right here: http://gallery.rennlist.com/gallery/...asters-upgrade

Can you resuse your stock flywheel? What if the car has ~50k miles? Can it just be resurfaced and reused?

If you are going to the expense of a new clutch get all new you won't regret it. That is my advice.
I have two DMF's in my garage I messed about with, should have replaced with new!

I agree with Ben - at 50,000 miles, I would go with all new. It's not worth doing the job to find out your flywheel was not in the best shape. It's a good idea to let all new parts wear in together.

DMF = $1,200.00
Sachs 999 PP = $1,300.00
Sachs disc = $500 ? I don't remember exactly
option: Clutchmasters PP upgrade - recommended if over 550 FWHP = $350.00 - This will make the clutch grab/engage down by the floor, as opposed th "high".
