Had it on my last 3 996s....actually better than stock as you are less likely to miss/mess-up shifts

No problem.

The first few shifts of the day require a little more effort though.

the shifts get better as the transmission gets warmed up,

it is like rifle bolt precision, versus the stock fumbling around in the dark.

Had the SS now for a few months and I love it! Took a few miles to get used to but I drive my car every day and I wouldn't go back.

Pros: Quicker shifts and more sporty feel.

Cons: little bit more effort to get into gear but well worth it!!
