interested in the new 04 GT2 (GT3 style) wheel. will there be a problem fitting those wheels on TT since the rear is an inch wider?

A GT2 owner can verify... I'm told the rear fenders of GT2s
are already rolled from the factory. If you don't mind getting
yours rolled, that may make the difference...

that SY GT2 in your picture is Wiley and I arriving at autofest, and parking next to my first seal grey gt2, now owned by Josh!

btw, assume those are 11" gt3's on your car. my fenders are rolled from the factory.

 

I have GT2 wheels and tires on my 2001 TT. The fenders were not rolled but we did cut out a small portion of the plastic wheel housing liners.
