Performance Friction 996TT Replacement Disc Proposal
Thanks, but not sure if we crossed wires there in understanding. Not looking for a one pad fits all, but stick to using 01's at the track (I haven't used 06's yet, not sure what the difference is there), then off track putting something on that is more suitable for street driving where the temps wont get up there. I thought the 97's were technically a race pad also?
Besides my last question, just wanted to add that I am definitely on the list for a set if you can get enough interest and show of hands, and get them in to production.
There is a non 6-speeder I need to track down (I only see him at the track) that I think will be interested also..
My 2c guys, I personally think getting the bigger setups (calipers and rotors) sure would be great, but unless I was dedicating my car only for the track would I be considering that extra braking ability at the extra expense. On the other hand, I do track a fair bit and I am tired of tossing rotors out. The PFC option to me really is a no brainer, their equipment is right up there, great, track proven, race winning technology. The price is great considering replacement disc costs and longevity (someone can do the math when the switching out front OEM rotors every 5-7 track days compared to how these will hold up, at some point you hit a break even and all along you have gotten better brakes and more safety). I know the weight figures haven't been finalized yet but we know they are going to be lighter also, so more performance will be eeked out in that department also.
Fingers crossed and waiting anxiously!

Out of curiosity, what have the comparisons between the stock Nissan GTR brakes to the recently introduced PFC's been like? Is there any test data or real-world feedback available yet?
Thanks.
But this was only a rotor or rotor/pad replacement right, OEM calipers were retained?
Thanks
Just sitting in the Motor home at Thunderhill Raceway here in Northern CA and thought there was some good info from the Vendor Classified section that might have been missed here.

Glad to see you on 6 speed now Michael. I hope this product drums up the support that I think it is hard to deny it deserves.
How soon could these be available once you/PFC see enough interest?
Just to give us an idea about the amount of road/track car guys using PFC rotors, how long have they been available say for the GT3's (996/997) and about how many cars are out there running them?
What other road going cars are also proving to be popular runners of PFC rotors?

Thanks for the warm welcome boss351.
Once we have 20 confirmed orders, it will take about 7 weeks for production.
As far as the GT3s are concerned, PFC has been making disc assemblies for years. There are hundreds out there. Not to mention the 1999-2005 Porsche 996 C2/C4/Boxster S applications.
As far as other road/track going cars are concerned...
Nissan GT-R, please see pics in link below. This is exactly the same design as we are proposing for the 996TT
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...tors-here.html
Acura
BMW
Corvette
Mustang
Mitsubishi
Jaguar
Infiniti
Subaru
That's just to mention comparable 2-piece disc assemblies. PFC of course makes numerous replacement discs.

So, you have internet, how about F1 coverage? At least the live times will be at a more suitable hour for use to watch this race.
If you run in to any GT3/C2/C4 guys in the NASA events running your rotors, maybe you could ask them for some comparison info on rotor life from their OEM's prior to PFC now.
Any 6-speeders going to Thunderhill reading this thread? Go and meet Michael and take a look at the rotors he is taking to the track!
Let us know what you think.

Just checked out Thunderhill on the internet, looks like a great venue. I am off to the lesser known but locally equally loved Harris Hill Road on Sunday. Going to push another day out of my diminishing OEM rotors.

Let us know what you think.Your boy is third on the grid, think he can do it again?
I haven't looked at their quali fuel loads yet, suspect the Toyotas were running light. I think Bahrain is going to have a lot of retirements but I actually think apart from being fast that Vettel knows how to look after his car, see the same with Hamilton, I think he'll make the podium also.
Heh, be on the lookout for any 996TT's there to let them know about the PFC option that will HOPEFULLY be coming!

This setup seems to meet all my requirements. I have found the 4 piston stock brakes, Pagid Yellows and Motul 600 to be just fine on the track. My complaints about the stock setup are the drilled rotors which get cracks after only one event and the cost of replacement of said rotors. Performance and quality aside, the reduced unsprung weight and price point makes this setup worthwhile.
My requirements:
-Better than OEM durability
-Better than OEM cooling
-No need to upgrade calipers or use caliper extenders
-Lighter
-Quiet hardware
-Multiple PFB pad options
-Price point
