Sean,it is probably the diff as Todd said.....mine made a similar clicking noise at one time.I changed to a guard diff

what is a guard differential and how much do tthey cost?

 

I just got this e-mail from Todd:

"Just thought of this... Check the rear parking brakes. I had one car
that the pins came loose and it acted just like you're saying...
Intermittently locking up and also making funny clicking noises."

Hopefully that is the prob.

If it is the diff (I have been doing some research over at Rennlist). should I rebuild the stock or go w/ a Quaife or a Guard?

 

Todd would know, you could also ask Brian Copans at BMC&G in Athens, OH. He does all the trannys/diffs for the Porsche Motorsports racing teams, definitely knows his sh*t.

 

I think you should get a Quefe in your rear end

 

Do you mean Quaife or Quife? If Quaife, it is not a true LSD and I would opt for the Guards.

If Quife, only women can do those and it actually comes out the front, not the rear

seriously though the Quaife sounds like a good option at nearly half the price of the Guards. But you are pushing quite a bit of power. I've been looking into LSD's lately as well, maybe I can steal one from a Laguna Seca Race car next weekend.

I wonder if the new GT2 has a different unit as well. Since it has the launch control it may need a much befier unit than was provided in the past
