It would seem that our Porsche Turbos could experience the overboost safeguard anywhere between 1.1~1.4... depending on the car/programming... any idea why?

My thoughts are that there must be more to the safeguard than simply boost... that certain airflow conditions, load, rpm, etc in combination with the boost must be at work. Otherwise, I simply find it strange that some cars can consitantly run 1.3~1.4 BAR boost while others can only peak 1.1~1.2.

For instance, Shank's GT2 with Evo Stage IVGT would see 1.3~1.4 with no problems... yet, my programming ('01 with Upsolute/Kevin II) doesn't like to linger too long in 1.2 before the factory safeguards interrupt the fun.

Any thoughts?

While I realize all those are factors that affect BOOST... what I'm specifically after is what factors do our Porsche Turbos use in triggering the overboost safecheck mode. Because I suspect it may be more than simply "over-boosting".

Exhaust backpressure, elevation corrections, temperature, humidity, octane, the list goes on.. It's like the top fuel funny cars, they have to dial in all the factors and set the clutches up to try and figure out how the engine was going to run at each event..
I can see you now with a laptop sitting in that black beat of yours programming your Motec for your turbos for EVERY possible single parameter and instance
