Although there may be reasonable explanations for all those issues, if it was me looking at that car, my first inclination would be, it sounds to me like that car has had a rough life so far. However, it NOW has a lot of new stuff, so if a PPI doesn't find anything ELSE major wrong with it...probably OK.

thats my point though, run where?

to a stock car with 45k miles on its original drivetrain?
to a CPO car that will be more expensive, but no guarantee the warranty even would cover a problem?

I would take a deep breath, walk away, and looking again in the near future. No reason to rush yourself.

Good luck.

you seem hesitant and that is understandable...so i would just walk away from these set of cars and continue the search for the perfect turbo for yourself...there are many out there and one that that is perfect to you

Unfortunately there are a lot of tt's out there that have low mileage and have been properly cared for. Don't rush into anything especially if your gut is telling you to wait.
These cars are great machines and somewhat bullet proof as high performance cars go but not every one made is a gem and may not have treated that way too. This is my 3rd ty and my experience has been great. Just take your time.

Mod220,
Did you end up going with this car? I think I am just a couple months behind you on my search, as I have recently started. If you have any suggestions for me (for example, cars you investigated, but found bad histories) feel free to PM me. Any info or advice is appreciated.

I am looking for an 01-03 996 TT, arctic silver, black or dark grey interior, <40k miles.

Thanks
David
