Was your BMW key made of gold? I had to get a key replaced for my old M3, only ran me $125 or so, maybe a few $ more, but not much. $700, I really hope you got other services at that price. 20 years from now that key will be worth more than the car at that price, zeesh.

Just a hint:
If you can find a locksmith or dealer (Porsche, Audi, or VW) who can copy your current key, you can save yourself some money by purchasing a key blank. The key blanks are cheap ($20 vs. $130 for the factory cut key).

The remote portion is around $130., I would expect $50-60 for programming (depending on the dealer or indy).

That must be quite a key, I lost a key for my 335 and it was about $260 total.

+1--I purchased a remote from Suncoast for $130 and had my indy shop program it for $50. $180 total versus the $550 my Porsche stealer quoted me
