996 turbo an 996 carrera price differince
Is there a big price differince as far as maintenace and repairs between a 996 carrera an 996 turbo, I looked up the cost to own on edmunds and there there is a least a 30k difference in price for the cost to own.
The cost to own as calculated by Edmunds must indlude depreciation and/or lease price. Since the Turbo is a way more expensive vehicle, the higher cost would make sense.
The price difference is partially driven by marketing positioning : after all the Turbo is Porsche's statement product (aside from the really expensive one-off's such as the Carrera GT).
The other reason for the higher price is the engine (handmade and 3 times more expensive than the normally aspirated throw away engine) and other upgraded components.
As far as maintenance is concerned (after initial purchase) I see no difference (and I've owned both). One could even argue that the Turbo engine is bullet proof, which can not be said about the the NA engine.
Listen, I'm a finance guy myself and very conservative. But when it comes to these kind of questions I can only give you one piece of advice : buy a used Turbo (they are incredibly cheap now) and never look back.
Hope this helps.
