Upgrade Stock Speakers

Please help guys. I am trying to replace the stock speakers. I am willing to replace the amp but don't want things to get too big or heavy. Ideally, I will just replace the speakers, no wiring changes or anything else; pull out and bolt in. Can you do this with the Bose system (with Most)? If you go after the amp, will it interface directly with the head unit? What speakers fit well and can matched with an easy replacement amp?

Thanks,
Tim

PS: I have a nice home theatre and am running a Fabspeed Loud so I really don't need a nice system in the Pcar. I just want better the the truly POS Bose.

I asked the same question a long time ago and was told that the issues is the AMP.... So changing the speakers out will do you no good...

I was looking for just a little better sound myself...

Ya, I have all the stock speakers but two heavy amps in the front ,and 3 subs in the back. Lots of weight but sounds incredible even with stock speakers. If you don't want all that weight, upgrade the head unit and make sure it comes with a powerful amp, not as powerful but saves the weight of a heavy amp. A nice head unit with amp should run around $600. If you are looking for good sound quality, the speakers should be upgraded to. I am sure your local shop can help u out. Dan

dlm: The stock speakers sound OK wiht a new amp? I am shocked. I know the subs are the weakest points on the Bose but I really thoufht the stock speakers were fairly lame.

I don't want to upgrade the head unit. I just want better sound and will do the speakers and an amp in necessary, and no more. Is this possible?

Stock Speakers

Hello, I am trying to get the part numbers for changing out my stock speakers as they are blown.
I have heard that MB Quart make a good "bolt in" replacement. Does anyone have experience with these and if so do you have the part numbers? I would change out the dash, door and rears.
If not MB Quart - any other good suggestions?
I have heard that the Boston Accoustics are a good fit - anyone done these?
The car has the DSP so I think it has enough power to drive them.
2001TT - Thank you

The stock speakers are OK if you push good clean power through them. Upgraded subs make a big difference also.

What is a good head unit that would fit into the stock opening, with the correct features?
