Here we go..

1. Yes the kit was purchased from overseas but was done so as sample only and not imported in bulk. The resource was through a friend that imports multiple items from overseas (I dont know why this has to do with closeup photography since I have no macro cam but will try to take pics soon)

2. This is a DYI because nobody offers this kit for the vehicle, you have to do it yourself because the kit does not include anything for the vehicle minus the lights. (Again nothing to do with the closeups cause i have no camera for it!)

3. I understand everyone wants to know how much but as you know importing 1 or 2 you will die in cost of actual parts , hence the need for a large feeler.

4. 2ndshift, I will take a picture of i up close but.. lets see, I have no macro feature on this camera to take anything that close to read!! Also I went through the piece it has no markings, and then again its already installed and will take me time to remove again.

5. My friend is currently the only resource for these unfortunately, trust me I tried myself to go straight to seed

Hope this betters explains things a bit.

c. Everyone wants to know how much for this kit, wherever it comes from, as long as it shows up in a nice brown box on their door.

...Correct?

So...I am sure that kit is being sold somewhere in this country (jeez you can find a rubber chicken wing on a keychain if you look hard enough), so why not indulge us with more information on the product (like a close up of the engraved plastic that may have some identification to who makes it) so we can all share the same enjoyment as you do .

...unless you can get us a better price on a groupbuy going through you.

Thanks Edwin, Ive pmed chuck.

Tvurt: I dont have measurements at the moment but it actually runs across the whole slit of the grill in the pic on page three. So anyone with a turbo bumper can give you that measurement

Not to literally say take professional glamour shots of the lights, but rather to show us what it really looks like. The casing, the connectors, the way it mounts to the car, anything that can show us what this kit looks like up close...so we can do some DIY research ourselves. The real fact of the matter here is yours looks damn good. Fit and Finish from afar looks A+.

Imported overseas can either mean Oh-so original OR Oh-so knock off...so what might not be available in your neck of the woods, may be in mine. So if I happen to run into something at the asian food store miscellaneous isle, or th neighborhood LAPS (local autoparts store), that looks like an exact replica of yours, I might be prone to buying it without wasting my DIY time.

2nd shift, I couldnt even do glamour shots if I tried. I will take closeups of it mounted and such hopefully later today. Check back soon! I hope they do sell it in an asian store, It'd probably be dirt cheap already

Here are the best closeups I could get! Enjoy!

As you can see I couldn't mount them exactly flush with the grill because it has a center piece thicker holding all the slats together.

so from the pics, it looks like the strip is self contained and premade unlike the other install from a few months ago.

Now that mercedes is doing the leds in front, I am sure there will be a few chinese companies manufacturing and selling the led strips on ebay sooner than later.

Doing a quick 1 minute google search for led light strip I got this page- http://tl.acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=689839 which was done over 6 months ago on an acura. that person said he got his light strips here- http://www.oznium.com/home-smd-led-bar looks pretty close to me for $50.

Here is a guy in cali somewhere on a different forum already selling the process- http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=252821

So mystery solved? lol..Not exactly the same but the concept looks like its similar and was out there all along, mine just looks like it was made for an auto because of its blinker like casing so it can stand alone in the bumper, its just coincidence mine fits perfectly in the grill along the slat and was ready for wiring up with the right kind of brackets. Talk about lucky

Not sure if anyone is still interested since they are similar yet, not the same but let me know...I got approval from Chuck to start a GB Thread for you guys.

Scott- I was not trying to rain on your parade, please don't take it that way. I am sure people are willing to pay extra for a complete custom, tested setup whereas the other options I pointed out would be more "work" and more of a DIY project.

Some people just don't like to get their hands dirty. Same analogy with changing your own oil- some do it, while others pay an extra $100 for someone to do it for them.

Either way, good luck in your gb. I am just curious, like everyone else, on the pricing because you said , "you will die in cost of actual parts , hence the need for a large feeler." I was just unclear with your coy attitude. I'm all for you trying to maximize your profits and efforts. How much could your led light strips cost if you can get similar ones for $50? Not trying to be rude, just asking the question. Maybe your lights are better? Higher output? Easier to install? Better waterproofing?

+1 to 2nd shift.

Hey SCTrojan, No hard feelings, Im glad someone was able to find a cheap alternative, because really I dont have much time to pursue it. Of course some people would want one or another, we live in a world of options! I only said you will die in cost of actual parts because I imported 1 and at the time there was maybe 3 people interested would return in higher cost of each individual imported part. My coy attitude is a safety to not get peoples hopes up about a product I may not be able to deliver. You are right, how much could it be if you can get it similar for 50? Well let me tell you... Alot. I dont buy 10,000 yards of this stuff or anything to lower cost to 50 a pair. Reasonable would be like 150-200 for a pair as a full kit which im still trying to work out the finer details. I actually was more interested in helping the local community with some install day but it turned out people from around the way people in different states wanted it more. I have no clue if mines higher output, easier install? Better waterproofing?? Because it initially started out as a DIY. I dont even know how you would mount those other products nor wire them.

Again SCTrojan, I was pretty happy someone found an alternative, just wanted to let people know it was not the same exact one as mine just in case they thought it was. No hard feelings buddy, If no one wants the GB, I'll survive haha..
