Battery discharged! What to do?
Battery discharged! What to do?
I was trying to remove my ecu which requires the top be partially put down. Couldn't remove the ecu so re-attached all the leads, however, left the key in ignition which drained the battery.
I've had the Porsche battery maintainer plugged in now for 24 hours and the thing is still dead. Red light is on where it's plugged into the wall and the cigarette lighter end is making a noise like it's trying to charge the battery, but so far - nothing.
Any suggestions? I can't even have the car transported to the dealer since the top is partially down.

The maintainer won't recharge a dead battery. It will only maintain a full battery. You will have to connect a battery charger to the battery for several hours at 4-6 amp charge rate. Or, you can jump start the car with another car, but be sure the other car is not running. Porsche's have a bad habit of blowing fuses when jumped with to much volatge.
Hope this helps.

Hey Jamie,
Any hints as to why you are removing your ECU??
If it's the reason I think it is congrats on the commencement of the evolution of your car. Bummer that you can't drive this weekend with the temperatures in Burlington. When you get going, keep the battery maintainer plugged in from now 'til spring.

In my car, there's an accordion type pamphlet. If you unfold it, there's a diagram that shows 4 steps:
--pull out the red terminal on the fuse panel, just to the right of the spoiler switch
--attach the jumper cable (+) side to this red terminal, and attach the jumper cable (-) side to the door latch hoop located below the b pillar
--press the trunk release button on the key
--pull the trunk opening switch to the left of the drivers seat
This is for an '04 Carrera, but I would imagine it's the same for your car, but I'm not certain--so proceed at your own risk!!
