It seems in this present market I can find either a 2002 996 TT or a 997 C2 for approx this price........w/approx 35k on the clock (either car)
Which is a better choice for a third car/weekend toy?
325 HP vs 415HP?
4 yrs newer or more power......I've always heard to buy the newest P-car that you can afford....
What say you?

You will always wish you had gone for the car with more power. At first you will be happy with 315 shiny HP, but as soon as an "older" 996 TT blows you away, you will be back in the market right quick. Trust me.
There's actually quite a few lengthy debates on the forum regarding this question. If you search for them you'll pull up a lot of opinions but for what it's worth I'd pick the Turbo 8 days a week. If you're just looking for something to buy, drive occasionally and put away then the 997 might be a perfect fit. It's extremely comfortable, reliable as a top and will turn plenty of heads - but I can't leave anything stock and the 996tt is one of the most tunable platforms out there right now and you can add another 100 hp for nearly nothing.
You'll get 100 responses to this question but just save yourself the headache, drive them both and see what's right for you. Both cars will put a smile on your face.

I had a C2...and spend lots of money trying to make it faster....and was eventually convinced by Alex to quit trying to make a turbo out of a C2 and just buy a turbo...so when the opportunity presented itself, I went to the turbo...no comparison. Jeremy hit it right...power is the narcotic most folks seek out and enjoy. For very little money, as has been said....this platform lends itself to an additonal 100 HP for a relatively small investment....something you cant' say about any other model.

Your white C2 is stunning....white is one of my favorites. You might want to stop and think about the swap....althought the turbo is intoxicating, but you probably won't find that color combo again....although they are out there.

I'd rather own my dinan stage 2 135i than pretty much any non turbo porsche, besides a gt3.

i was torn between a c4s or an older tt, i did a ton of research on here and tons of people gave me opinions, overwhelming response was to go with a tt....best thing i ever did
100% go with the tt, if you dont you will only regret it later, ther are tons of reasons why, if you want to know all of them spend some time searching, i did before i made my decision, you can learn a ton on this site
good luck

have never owned a non t porsche, i drove one for a friend, woooozerz whata dog!!! and it had a wing too, guess that does not make it any faster(limited knowledge about non t cars),get the turbo, then the mods will count. good luck steve
Look at the resale of non Turbo P-cars vs. Turbo'd cars. The 997 will eventually depreciate far below what the 996TT will be going for in say 10 years. The modability of the TT is far beyond the NA car as well. The only thing that is nicer about the 997 of note in my opinion is the interior and the shifter, but you can put a 997 Shifter into a 996TT to rnegate that advantage as many have already done. I say go 996TT.
