Review of 6 month spending binge at Vivid and subsequent track day
Good morning,
After a 4 year track hiatus, I picked up my 03x50 in September with the intention of eventually taking her to DE events.
The first person I contacted to get everything hooked up was Dan from Vivid. Other than some plain bad luck, my experience with Dan has been excellent at recommending and providing parts for a Porsche n00b like myself.
Since September, I have picked up the following go fast goodies for the car;
-Evo Intake and fabspeed insanely loud exhaust (used from 6speed member D33pblue)
-Bilstein PSS10
-6 piston GT3 calipers
-Stainless lines, high temp fluids
-Pagid RS yellow pads front
-Pagid RS black pads back
-HRE P40s (street wheels)
Last week, all the waiting and parts paid off with a private lapping day at Mont-Tremblant: http://www.lecircuit.com
To make my comeback even better, I picked up some Hoosier R6's at the local tire shop and mounted them to the stock wheels for some added grip.
This is a 2.65 mile circuit with nice elevation changes that provides a nice high speed experience and really uses up the brakes (you can hit 220+ km/h on the back straight).
Let's just say for a guy with my level of driving (10 years of lapping with some very minor experience in F1, F3000, F1600, etc) the car went beyond my expectations, especially in the braking department. I couldn't believe after every lap I did the brakes did not fade at all. I had the suspension at the stiffest in the front and -1 stiffest in the rear and it was very good, with some minor tweaking it could be made a little better (sways, etc).
I ran in the "fast" run group that day which included; Ariel Atom (supercharged), Radical, 2 Corvette race cars and a gaggle of Porsches and M3s. Other than the race cars, a well set up M3 (with a driver with more ***** than me) and a beautiful 911 GT3RS, I was able to keep a very quick pace. The only bummer of the day was being black flagged for breaking the noise limit (a paltry 92db). The fabspeed was doing about 96db!
So in summary, thanks to Dan for making the car go beyond my expectations, it was a great first day back and I have another 6-8 lapping days left this summer before winter starts.

Ah yes
1) Forgot the rotors, they are excellent and I guess we'll see over time how they fair on multiple track days compared to the standard rotor. So far so good.
2) Shout out to Pumalex who supplied the wing
he upgraded to the GT2 decklid so it was already painted black and was perfect.

Sounds like you're enjoying and driving your car the way it was meant to be driven.
BTW, be careful sitting on that part of the fender as they are pretty easily dented - and expensive to fix.
