Hollow spoke wheels: better performance?

Looking through past posts it looks like the hollow spoke wheels are about 5lbs lighter than the solid spoke wheels. That is a substantial difference in unsprung weight! I would think swapping on hollow spokes in place of solids would reveal some noticeable improvements. Does anyone have any firsthand experience trying this?

Lighter will almost always be faster/quicker. There are many here that had a noticable decrease in performance when installing 19" wheels. A little drastic, but the theory remains...

I believe the only solid spoke wheels are the EARLY 2001 wheels? Do a search here...

I noticed a tangible difference going from hollow spoke wheels to Champion Monolite RG5's. You can actually feel it in the steering, while accelerating and while breaking. Car felt all around more nimble. Some of this may have been psychological, but I doubt all of it.

Wheels are basically an extension of the flywheel. Lighter wheel, less work for the engine to spin the car up to speed.
