Unlucky but Kevin UMW to the rescue...

I was on the track yesterday and all of a sudden heard a whine sound from LR of the car under boost. Figured it to be a turbo and continued as I saw no smoke or check light. Finished the session and had a look this morning and what so you know, the intake hose popped off right next to the turbo in. On closer inspection it has sucked in some debris and bent the shaft. Unlucky or what? Not sure as to why it came off.

Kevin is in the process of building me some turbo's but in the meantime he is sending me a loaner k24 so I can keep my future track day commitments. Thanks Kevin, now thats what I call customer service and I live in Australia!

he loaned out much bigger stuff so that customers could continue driving. He's definitely one of the best to deal with.

By the time I heard the whine I new the damage was done..the Whine is the result of a bent shaft spinning at 180k.

You're lucky you didn't blow the motor.

Air getting sucked in directly to the turbo avoids the MAF entirely and doesn't even register.

Mark, we have changed it a couple times but I believe it to be a k24 hybrid Kevin special. Basically I wanted more from 5-7000rpm as it is just flat after 4800 at the moment and left the details to Kevin.

I was thinking the same thing. Just need to figure out why it came off before the new turbo's go on. I'm puzzled.

Agree, props to Kevin at UMW. He is a perfectionist and everything he has told me to do has turned out to be right on the money so far....

Sounds like the 2c turbos I have, LOTS of power above 4000rpm building all the way through redline.

Kevin's the man.

Spoke to Kevin last week and he said he should have them finished and shipping this week. So not long now I hope as I have another club day end of the month and want them on/run in and tuned ready for the club sprints.
