Re-routing the tracks and installing a side mount garage door opener would give you about 6 more inches in your case. That's about all. And, it would cost about $1,000 to move the tracks and install the new opener. Rather pricey for an additional 6 inches.

Another friend has a 10 foot ceiling with the side mount opener and he can get his car all the way up. 9 feet might just be too tight. You could certainly put the lift in. You likely could not take it high enough to park another car underneath. But, you would be able to work on the routine things. Oil changes, plugs, tranny oil, brakes, suspension, those type things.

I will spend some time on the high lift garage door option, but that
MAXJAX is the bomb! Of course, I will have to check to see that my
garage floor is the proper depth, but otherwise, that is some brilliant
thinking that went into that design. Once my floor checks out, I
will be all over that one!
