Painted lowers/Armor All

I want to paint my lower rocker panels but they have been exposed to Armor All in the past. I try to to put much Armor All on them, but i have done it. Anyone have experience painting their lower rockers after they have been exposed to greasy tire stuff?

I just don't want the paint to fall off in a few weeks. I do know that the body shop will de-grease them and prep the properly, just worried

just use a solvent like rubbing alcohol (even diluted) to remove the armor all.

I had mine painted after using a lot of amorall, etc. on them and have not had any problems. The body shop did comment that they had to do a lot of prep because it.

detergent or concentrated cleaner is good for that. How much armorall have you used? If you need sunglasses to view your lowers in the sun, it may be too much!

Prepsol will tak care of it. A bodyshop should scuff them up/ sand them before priming and shooting the paint. I wouldn't worry about it as if there is any greasy stuff left on it paint/clear will fisheye like crazy and they'd have to do 3 times the work.

Slightly off topic, but you may want to skip the use of Armor All on any part of your car. IMHO.

You could switch to a product like 303 Aerospace Protectant. It has UV protection and I do not think it is oil based so it will not dry out whatever surface you put it on...

Back on topic, agree that a paint shop should be able to get anything off. If you want to DIY, then use a household dish soap (e.g., Dawn) W/O antibacterial or "hand lotion / softener" additives (they stay around on the finish). That should get anything off. If you are really type-a you can try a degreaser as well. BUT don't get either near you paint as it will take any wax / polish / etc off the paint.

i used to use armoral until i heard about 303, havent used armoral since, was never really happy with the greasy look so 303 is perfect for me, it makes things look new rather than slimey
