What is it worth?

Most of you know my story (A promise fullfilled). I recently found out that the diagnosis the dealer originally gave me was wrong, and sent me into the search for the exhaust (Thanks again Joe). I found out this last weekend my car actually has the RTURBO upgrade to it. My question is this; How much is it actually worth. I am going to have the engine pulled out and fixed and it will probably cost me about 10k to fix. There are problems in the right cam bank, it sounds like a loose sprocket, I am told. After it gets fixed what does everyone think it is worth? It is in decent shape, and has a straight body now. It had slight body damage and is now fixed, it has 67k miles on it and it is still lighining fast. The interior is good and will have a mild soundsystem upgrade with satellite radio, and while I am at it, what about doing Carbon fiber to the interior. What would it be worth on the general market and then to someone who knows about RUF and P cars?

I am interested to know what everyone thinks???

i wouldnt add CF to the interior, its very specififc tatse and not everyone likes it, if you could find the very specific buyer who happens to want your specific mods then you might get your money back on it but personally i wouldnt waste the time or money on it

He's right. Unless it's a factory option, don't count on getting paid back on it. There are some buyers who would prefer a stock car over an identical car with upgraded turbos, exhaust, and flash for the same money. Some people will pay for those aftermarket cars if the car is done properly, but don't plan on getting paid back on anything you add. That way, you can't be disappointed.

if you are going to the trouble of fixing it i would hang on to it for a while and enjoy it, its not exactly a sellers market right now

check out the for sale secton to see what educated sellers expect/deserve, then check out flea bay to see what the average car buyer expects to pay, unfortunately there is a pretty wide gap between the two

good luck

Don't take this the wrong way, but anything you do to that car, other than maintenance, will depreciate it. That car is for the "purist" who knows and appreciates what that car is. I personally am NOT one of those people, which is why I would never buy or even look for one of these cars. But they are special to some and they will likely want it the way it came from Ruf, not modded or with an aftermarket stereo, regardless of the quality of said "mods". So if you wanna Mod, whether performance or aesthetics, start with a different car...

Tough market. I am sure you have seen the sales from RAC, and some past sales that were advertised on this site. Some cars get lots more money than others.

First knock is high miles. No matter how you cut it, there are still plenty of 996 based cars with fairly low miles coming on the market and you have to compete with them.

If you are having an engine repair done, make SURE they don't screw up any of the Ruf tuning/parts in the process, and that the fix is done 100%. That engine has to be perfect to get any money out of it.

As it is an RTurbo, what, exactly, was done with the engine upgrade? What spec engine? There is more than one spec on the RTurbo engine. Did the chassis get upgraded? Brakes? Ruf wheels? Other Ruf bits? All this affects price. If it only has the engine tuning you are unlikely to get any more than you would with a stock tt with a tuning kit. It if has a lot of the Ruf equipment and LOOKS like a proper Ruf that will help the sale a lot and shoudl increase the price.... but, as has already been stated, the market is down and you will never get "what it is worth".

Tell us more about the car and we might be able to give you a better idea. Tho, I suspect researching here for past sales as well as Google searchs [believe it or not] will tell you something. Just remember that unless the sales were recent, they have nothing to do with a high mile car in today's market.
