Aftermarket Swaybars on the 996TT

Is it a worthwhile upgrade? I have PSS9's currently and am thinking about this as well as the strut tower brace.

sweeney186 is infamous around these parts
Very worthwhile upgrade.Helps to dial out the understeer & upgrade the droplinks while your there-stock ones are pretty weak.

Think about adjustable upper rear control arms and rear toe steer links while you're at it.

I would go with adjustable sways, droplinks (factory are not very robust, as stated above), toe links, dog bones (with steel inserts, a couple of suppliers here have them). If your car is lowered the dog bones adjust out the additioinal negative camber.

While the above stuff is all great, I was told that the strut tower brace on a 996 is mostly eye candy. The car has one from the factory of a sort and you dollars are better spend on seat time, SRF, sways/links/control arms...and a corner balance!

They do look cool though.... I wanted one and was told to save my $.

My guru was a former F1 engineer....he and I could be wrong of course....

I got a full package of goodies from Dan at Vivid Racing...he was very nice about it all and the agency power stuff is very nice...no issues now with 15 months and 12k miles of DD and HPDE use.

Beyond quality coil overs, the swaybar is pretty important. It, along with the drop link, will help minimize body roll, while also helping balance front/rear roll center and, as mentioned by others, dial in more rear turn-in while dialing out front understeer.

The "total" package for the street fighter would include GT3 control arms, solid subframe bushings, adjustable thrust bushings, motormounts, lock plates for the toe links, and regardless the dogbones you get, make sure the heim joints and "size down" bushings are high quality. Soft aluminum inserts WILL deform...

And as Jeff mentions above, none of these parts will do you well without the proper suspension engineer to install, align, and corner balance them to the car.

Mike
