Porsche 3.8 1000 plus RWHP with over 5 thousands miles and 80K on the odometer! Built over two years ago and still no problems. A fantastic motor!
Good Luck

Detonation=Preignition=knock. Caused from too much boost+timing on too low octane or too little fuel. Other causes are high operating temps carbon deposits and iam sure many others.

The best way to avoid is to start with a good tuner (like you have done). Then use the best appropriate gas, plugs, ICs ect to guard against knock. The engine has knock sensors to protect it but these should be seen as a last resort.

Thank you for the information.
I use 93 octane here, I know a couple of places where I can get 100 and 103 in town but I wish I had me a place out in the country a bit I could have my own pump!
Plugs, I am going with the Denso PK20, already in the car. The IC's should be on tomorrow and the BRV's already in. The biggest challenge has been removing the JUNK out and i am almost there. The way I take care of my cars I hope to see this one live a few years.

I use VP MS-103. I buy it by the 54gal drum and pump myself. A little race gas will really wake that EVT-700 up!!
