Aggressive Front Alignment for Street?
Aggressive Front Alignment for Street?
Any suggestions for an aggressive, but streetable front alignment setting? I guess this would include a compromise between a of a lot of camber and the need for straight line stability.
I have stock front suspension + Pss9s.
My logic is that the front tires on these cars are cheap and last so long that accelerating wear is a non issue.
The rears are different story altogether.

The negative camber will help you handle a bit better. I would suggest some sway bars as your car is going to be rolling to much.

ARI, Here's what I'm running on the street with very GOOD tire wear...
Camber:
Front -1.5
Rear -2.0
Caster
Front +8
Toe
ZERO OUT front and rear
H/R Swaybar Settings
Center rear
Softest front
PSS9 Customs (Mine are not off the shelf)
Front - 3
Rear - 1
Larry (Landjet) and Gunther have both been in my car and Gunther has driven it. They can both weigh in on how it rides and handles.

Mike's car is setup right. I was very impressed by the re-valving and re-springing of the PSS9's.
Next time we see each other Mike, it's time for you to drive mine again. I think you'll like it. I'm having the rear toe and camber tweaked shortly because I destroyed the rear tires at the track but once that is done it should be set. Front tires are wearing very evenly.

Guys,i ve tried several allignment specs with the help of Mike...but i never asked why to set toe to zero?i mean Gt2 specs are rear toe in(total 2,6mm) and it works very well...when i tried zero toe in rear i realised weird behaviour or rear end...
It really depends on your driving style and how you want the car to track into a corner.
Some folks add more toe in at the rear to make the car more stable. more toe in at the front helps combat the darty steer some cars can exhibit.
Since my car has no issues in either area, we run zero toe at both ends.
If any of us are at the track together, or a meet together, you're quite welcome to drive the car and see for yourself... I guess it boils down to each car being a little different in components, setup, and technician doing the alignment.
I go to one guy and one guy only for my suspension setups. I recommend that once you find that one person that sets the car up to your liking, use only that guy... And write down all of the specs he set the car up to, or get him to provide a printout of it.

Hey Ari,
I think I may have taken you for a spin with this set-up. Awesome and best on tire wear...the fronts last till they crack anyhow.
Alignments settting on PSS9's ...post towards bottom.

Contact Bilstein. They will revalve them for you. Mine came on the car, but had been custom valved by Bilstein when the previous owner had them tweeked. I run my car at the settings I posted above and with GT2 range ride heights.
For a "track" aggresive alignment, I was running -2.9 front camber with 8 degrees caster and zero toe up front, and -2.5 camber with zero toe on rear. Car was still at GT2 ride height settings.

Be careful with rear toe, at least with track tires. My tech set the rear toe at 0.10 and it ate the edges of my rear tires. Our local race tire guru told me to decrease rear toe to 0.02 and dial back rear camber to -1.5 from -2.08. Don't know about other cars or setups but this is what happened on my tires.
I agree with Mike and we have chatted about it with him before...the only thing is that the tow has to be set to your driving. 650+ hp acceleration WILL cause tow out from .15 to .25. That will actually burn the inside of the tires more not to mention the squirly-ness. I like more as it feels awesome when tossing the car around. I think to compromise for those fwy onramps you should run .20 tow in rear. That is in speck too. Cup cars run over .40 in to handle better and guys like Art will benefit from lots of it aswell as they are putting down lots of hp on sticky tires. The rear has lots of movement due to rear squat and bushing deflection. Try hanging your head out the window when a buddy pulls 1st or 2nd gear and look at the front of the tire. Now if you had stiff rear spring and compression like mike you would not see that much movement but that is a whole other compramise if not tracked often.
I say get a good feel for your car now and see where it is at when you are on the alignment rack...them take it from there. Knowing Dan you are at around .20ish tow in now.
