So, no way to avoid a future denial?!? (ie you are doomed to failure)

The 'jerk' comment is interesting.... This is business- DO NOT think that they wouldn't sell this to a local buyer tomorrow without a second thought! Unless you have a binding legal agreement, a "credit card deposit over the phone" is nothing. You worry about being a jerk, and they really don't.

Good luck on the PPI.

You're sooo right!!! He really wants to close this sale asap. Funny thing is now the power seems have obviously shifted to me :-)

If any abnormal results come back from the PPI - look out! It'll be interesting to see how he responds cause the circumstances have me believing he needs to close this sale by COB on wed. and I don't.

Since they haven't budged on price, they don't seem to have any leverage.

Here's hoping everything works out! Thanks for all your help!

I guess I see it as the leverage that they have is they still have the car. White turbo is very hard to find and if it's the "right" car for you and you are willing to pay the price, I wouldn't worry so much about a car cover. I looked for a few months for white and they are pretty rare. Whatever decision you make, make sure you have no regrets

PPI came back good. Clutch, general wear, body condition, paint and overall appearance all look good.

Just waiting on CPO details.

The color combo is seemingly a rare combo. But you must really want this combo to go through all of this BS. Like others have said, they are hoping that you are of weak mind and will cave in to their psychology.

If it were me, personally, I'd consider other compable turbos on Autotrader. For example, this one is in your state (CA?) and has almost half the mileage for a comparable price:

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

The ad says it's under warranty, but in case that it's not, then I'd go see what your local Porsche dealer to see what aftermarket extended warranty options you have and use that in negotiation w/ the owner. Of course, do the obligatory CarFax and PPI as well.

Good luck and do not let them do this to you.

Yes, the color and the X50 with the CPO are what's attracting me.

Thanks for the link.

I'd say these guys have zero leverage really. The car is about $2k over-priced given the miles. If you've got your heart set on a white X50 then keep pushing on the deal, otherwise there are other cars at a cheaper price that can be modded to X50 standards with minimal cost.

Deal should be done - money was sent :-)

Everything checked out at third party PPI. "That thing is FAST!"

Thanks everyone!!!

Dealer will detail the car and then hopefully the truck gets to pick it up this week.. then the long wait to come to California...yippee!!!

Yeah, I paid a bit extra, I know but I wanted the X50, CPO and white. Dealer spent $3K bringing it up to spec and add another $2K for CPO and that works out to $45K.
