Durametric Question
Durametric Question
I pulled some basic info with my new Durametric today. Does this look bad?
Number of ignitions range 1 21024 / 1089h
Number of ignitions range 2 100 / 621h
Thanks,
Number of ignitions range 1 21024 / 1089h
Number of ignitions range 2 100 / 621h
Thanks,
That looks fine. Range 1 means the rev limit was hit (no harm), Range 2 means it went past redline. Its been determined that range 2 can actual be caused without a mechanical over-rev (i.e. downshifting to 2nd at 100 mph) so they are not necessarily as dire as once thought.
That being said, its a small number and occurred a long time ago (the last one has at the 621st hour of operation) - any damage from an overrev would have shown itself long ago. The only time range 2 could be a concern is if you are purchasing a car and it has range 2 very recent...you don't know how bad someone may have thrashed the car or if there is damage that has not shown up yet.
