New guy with bigish problem
Hi, im new to this forum, and new to porsches. Around three months ago i brought a silver 2001 996 turbo x50. I absolutly love the car but little did i know when i got it it was in safety boost ( 0.4 bar ). I was told to swap maf semsor, made no difference, so i took it to a specialist. He said their was a leak on the manifold and so it was fixed. When i drove the car it rarely produced 0.7 bar and when acceleratong hard it would boost usualy 0.7 or 0.6 and then after around 4500rpm boost start tailing off to 0.4 or 0.5 to redline. I was told this was normal??? I have now put on an agency power filter which is great and had an ruf race map on the car set to run 1.3 bar. Now the car will pull 1.0 bar and tail off as before but to 0.8 or 0.9. So same problem of not making enough boost and boost tailing off but just more of. My brother is a mecjanic but isnt to familiar with porsches, he thinks a sensor may be sending wrong signals to the ecu??? Any suggestion or idras would be very much appreciated. Thankyou in advance

in washington there is some 110 at the pump out at the 1/2 mile oval its unleaded good stuff only 6.75 a gallon renagade branded run it in my atv's
but as far as driving around and being able to fill up not knowing the area n getting better then 93 in most places of the USA fat chance
In Europe both the X-50 and the GT2 were available as 2001's. In fact Wayne Gretzky didn't want to wait until '02, so he imported a brand new '01 GT2 into the states. I wonder how he did it, but he did. It was for sale for only 75K not too long ago.
I am interested in your problem. my car will build boost up about .08 and then it suddenly looses boost for a moment and then builds again in less then a second. Have you done a pressure test yet?
Hi, been realy busy, just ordered dv off vivid racing, so will wait for that and report progress. One thing i noticed. The tail off seems to just be at set revs rather than time period boost is held for, it almost seems like electric ignition retard, eg if im on the motorway at 70 mph and floor it i quickly get 1.2-1.3 bar, then that holds till approx 4500 rpm and drops to 0.9-1.0, i hope dv will work but if you havd any other ideas please enlighten me. Thanks
