removing turbos
removing turbos
i tried searching but couldnt find anything
thinking of sending my 16s to blouch, is removal fairly easy ? i installed an exhuast already so am fairly familiar with the layout, i assume i follow the same process, remove bumper, heat shield, exhaust etc and then i am at the turbos, are they just bolted on, easy to remove ?

With the exhaust and intercoolers off, break free the three turbo bolts from the manifolds. Pull off the inlet pipe couplers and disconnect the wastegate vacuum lines. On the oil catch cans there are two allen bolts, break the one on the outside of the tank loose, and then open the drain for the tank and let the oil drain. Up inside the tank there is the second bolt, take that one out as well, and then slide the tank off to the side slightly. Loosen and remove the 13mm on the support bracket that bolts to to the motor, and then unbolt the oil feed line from the check valve. You may have to heat the top of the check valve where the line bolts to with mapgas, because they can seize on there pretty well, and you will strip the line before you break it loose without heat. Finishing pulling off the three turbo to manifold nuts, and pull the exhaust manifolds from the heads. Hold the turbo up when you pull the last two bolts from the manifold
. Then you can just sneak the turbo between the valve cover and the catch can. If you try to remove the lines from the catch cans, you can get yourself into trouble, the lines and tanks can strip or cross thread relatively easily. Once the turbos are out you can pull off the support brackets from the exhaust housings and then the check valves.

Maybe a good idea is to change your spark plugs...
