ask this question on a bmw forum too and the sum of results and do some of that math ****. asking that question here is going to get you an obvious answer.

Turbo 997 all the way. Pay more for the Porsche but you get the handling and all-out performance of a true supercar.

Don't listen to those idiots - get the bimmer, for sure.

Learning to constructively and positively deal with BMW's build quality issues and the haughty and indifferent attitude of its customer service representatives will help you grow and mature as a person.

I'm having this same dilemma, we need to get the finalized specs for both before really being able to make a decision.

To the porsche zealots: The m6 is going to be one hell of a car with 2 extra seats that are actually useable for people with legs and arms, not just a toreso like is necessary in the 911.

The porsche is going to be more of a sporst car while the m6 will be a bit heavier and definitly the more useable daily driver.

It really depends on the individual but both are going to be great cars.

If the m6 gets the rumored 5.5 liter v10 with 550 hp it will be my choice. Most likely it will get the m5 5.0 liter 500 hp v10 and then I will have to see waht the 997 turbo is packing under the hood. The turbo will also obviously be far more tuneable.

I wouldn't get the M6, but BMW has gotten a few things right that I am not holding my breathe with regards to the 997 Turbo.

1. A DSC that actually can be COMPLETELY turned off. What a concept! I can turn off PSM, but in the interest of saving idiots lacking in RWD 101, PAG decided that ABD will be on at all times regardless of whether or not PSM is on.

2. SMG3. I had an E46 M3, and I loved the SMG2. SMG3 will be even better. Unless PAG comes up with something close to that, I will always be rowing the gears myself, eventhough the clutch is way over assisted, and the box is clunky compares to an S54 M coupe.

Now as far as the customer service, well, good luck with BMWNA. They really do not give a flying $#!%.

I think the DSG will be better than the SMG3. At least theoretically, as the only car that has had it so far is the Audi TT V6. Haven't heard any complaints though. Only problem I have with the M6 is that it will still be but ugly due to it's Chris Bangle design.
