EVO Clubsport Intercoolers and GIAC Flash Retune
EVO Clubsport Intercoolers and GIAC Flash Retune
Based on GIAC's strong recommendations during my last tuning session, I am getting some Intercoolers installed at Speed gallery this coming week.
I've decided to go with the EVO clubsport ICs, which while expensive, offer a great end tank, full 2.5" piping into and out of the ICs (that are designed to remove some of the stock connectors' restriction points), silicone F hose and some EVO Diverter Valves. It was thought during my last tuning session that that my upgraded but older DVs may have been leaking and preventing boost past the 1.2 BAR mark.
I was going to wait for Markski's new ICs but was under a time constraint to get this done.
This time, based on Garrett's suggestion, I'm going to leave the car at GIAC for about a week to give them time to really fine tune both 91 and 100 octane files as well as off boost driveability.
Can't wait to see the torque peak now
and am hoping for a fatter, smoother HP curve throughout. I'm looking forward to finally having this baby really dialed in!
As is, the car occasionally spins the tires in 2ND, but I'm looking for motivation to go back to AWD if you know what I mean.
I'd like to thank board sponsor http://www.rennsport-one.com/ for the quick order and great price on the ICs, Boost and F hose.
I think this is going to be the last mod on this car. While I plan on never selling her, I think it's time to turn my attention and $$ to something else. I just don't see this getting much faster on pump and the occasional day on 100 octane. Unlike some of you crazies :0 I don't see much use for a 109 octane file
.
VF Engineering / GIAC have a nice boost kit for the R8: http://www.r8talk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3320
I'm also eyeing M roadsters and Z06s (although top down fun and 8,000 RPM N/A engine are winning out at this point.

Ari,
Good choice, the IC's will also help your engine to live longer. Did you buy them new?
I am sorry I was not able to sell you mine, but I gave another person my word that he could buy them and he sent me a deposit.
If it makes you feel any better, there has been a hold up on my car and they wont be coming out for another week.

No Problem Jitsu. I think they went or are going to Kato? He's local and we've spoken few times. He's a good guy. I did buy them new, but got a great price.

Decided to stay stock from the throttle body to the engine. +1 for Speed Tech's Y pipe for being so flexible. All you need is a 3" - 2 3/4" silicone hose to fit stock throttle body.
