I wouldn't do it. I drove both, my turbo, and a 997 carrera S on the track and, to tell you the truth, the turbo is better, faster, and less under-steery than the carrera S. Don't misunderstand me, the 997 is a great car; it's alot better than the 996 but it's not better than the turbo.

Lee check the 997 forum there are at least 6 guys who did the move and won't look back, the Turbo does not handle nearly as well as the 997 "S" as well the TT is very front end heavy IMHO, sports cars should be rear wheel drive and light in the front end, always liked driving my 996 better then any friends Turbo, thats why the purists like the GT3 or GT2..

What purists are you referring to? A lot of us like the turbo and still consider ourselves "purists." It comes down to personal taste.

I test drove the 997s, and the dealer wanted me to trade my turbo.
NO WAY, I thought the 997 felt slow after driving the turbo.
I might trade for the 997 Turbo, if that comes out.

Speed is only 1 ingredient in a sports car and overall the 997s is alot more nimble then the Turbo, the Turbo has always been a little bit of a pig in the handling department, whereas all the 2wd models have better steering feel. This is my opinion from having driven 996's extensivly (all models). I would take a 997s over a current Turbo w/out a thought.

According to motor trend, the 997s posted speed & handling results that come pretty darn close to a stock 996tt.

With a lightweight flywheel, chip, intake, and exhaust a 997s will should spank a stock 996tt handily.

I just can't see a modded 997s spanking a stock turbo. Maybe close. Also, the 997 still has the RMS leak prone engine. Just for that reason, I would not trade a TT for a 997S.
