Solid Engine Mounts: What do people know and think?
I think the way it breaks down in stiffness is this from what I learned when I was looking:
stock - softest
X73
RS
Wevo - black
Wevo - blue
solid
I got wevo black and I cannot feel any difference, but then again, I have a very loud exhaust and a lwfw.
The Wevo Black is slightly softer than the blue. From my understanding about 10% difference is all. The wevo also has incredible craftsmanship compared to the others. The amount of eurethane inside the wevo's is so minimal it is hard to believe that it does anything. it is nearly a solid.

Going back to JCB's original question... the new mounts are adaptive. Accelerometers in the vehicle sense the turn, and then stiffen the mounts by applying a field. The write-up I saw didn't say, but this is usually done using magnetic actuators. That makes the mounts stiff while cornering, and soft while driving. Sort of like sway bars for your engine.
Because they are actuated based on feedback from accelerometers in the vehicle, they aren't going to work in our cars.

I am not sure as to all the prices, but I think they are all in the 400 to 500 range. Cost is very close, so price is not part of the decision process.
my stockers, look brand new. The car was such a virgin. Anyway, I remember there being a discussion about converting the stock mounts into semi solids. That is definitely another option that would be considerably cheaper and get similar results.
Mike, you are right, but there was a DIY on how to convert the factory mounts to semi solids by filling them with a resin. It was a detailed article and I just spend an hour of my life looking for it to no avail. oh well. I know I read it and I usually save links like that. But didn't this time I guess.
