Gemballa products

Has anyone had any experience with Gemballa front bumper and hood? I spoke with a rep at Gemballa North America and the hood is Carbon Fiber. I am interested in feedback regarding the fit and finish of the hood and the front bumper on the GTR600.

msindi, all the gemballa stuff I have seen doesn't fit too well. As I posted in the other thread Rlist. Seeing it in pictures and seeing up close and person is another thing. After speaking to owners that have had it done and or speaking to the paint and body guys there is alot of prep work that needs to be done to get the stuff to look decent.

That would be Heinz "YEEES" Meis, he's probably too busy test driving all the "Stars" around Malibu. He doesn't have time for us "normal" people.

Guys stay away from dealing with Heinz - He sent me a cracked GT2 wing and would not stand behind his product.......just a warning

With all the bad press I would find another distributer or a diff. product line to put on my car like techart or Ruf

Try the carbon fibre hood on for size. That thing looks hideous. Major fit problems, gaps deviate from top to bottom and left to right. Major lumps that aren't removeable. Your body guys going to hate you and probably charge you double.

the body gap deviations are very noticeable on light colored cars. The fiberglass work needs major build up and blocking out just to smooth out the lumps And after it has some time to cure and shrink those lumps and ripples will be back. More noticeable on darker colored cars.

Just a warning, I have seen many around here in So Cal.

If your not that particular about the finish and fit and want more of a visual impact then the stuff might be for you.

By no means am I trying to sell Gemballa stuff but I did want to relate my experience.
I will admit wholeheartedly that Heinz has a problem returning telephone calls, but if you keep after him, you will eventually make contact. He has always been very kind, courteous and professional to me and I do not have any problems with him other than his issue with returning phone calls.
Regarding the actual components, I purchased three items from him. The first was the wing, the second was the lower front lip spoiler and the third were the side skirts. I have to say the fit and finish were first rate. I have direct experience with bodywork and have gotten my hands dirty doing it on many occasions. Check out my 280Z photos to see the extent of my bodywork efforts. The rear wing fit like a glove, with such minor fit-up work it isn't even worth mentioning. The side skirts were perfect without any work required. The front lip spoiler was also perfect without any fit-up work required.
I requested additional pre-purchase photos from Heinz and he supplied them to me. I was specifically interested in seeing the underside of the wing to see how much extra work would be required. I was delighted that the wing pistons and motor and fan all bolted right up.
Basically, I am a happy camper. Just thought I would share my own experience.
I am considering the carbon fiber hood (aka 993 style) and my hesitation is that it is of a different material than the previous stuff.
Heinz also advised me that the front fenders and rear quarters on the widened car in the other thread are galvanized steel. He said you wouldn't put fiberglass on a car of this caliber. It felt good to hear him say that. By the way, he used to own a GT2 so he can appreciate the marque and its value.
Nuf said.
