GT3 Sway Bars - Issues

Any of you guys have some boinging and banging with a GT3 swaybar install that you eventually fixed? I've been told it's making way more noise than it should be but my installer (local Porsche dealer) seem to be out of ideas.

Should I admit defeat and put the old stocker back on the front and leave the rear adjustable GT3 bar on???

Any help would be appreciated.

Mike

Zippy, I had that problem about two years ago. The drop links were rubbing against the front axles. The curved DL's is what we came up with and they work.

When adjusting the front length and geometry of the drop links the front suspension should be adjusted at the maixumum unsprung/unloaded state with the axles and suspension at the maximum down travel. Then adjust the DL length at the lowest height just barely enough to not touch the axles. I orginally had some slight rubbing at full lock, readjusted the DL's and have not experience any more noises. Still have the straight version and no problems.

Thanks a lot for the input guys. I've ordered some curved links from Alex @ Akkurat. I don't think my local Porsche service department has the capacity to get it to work correctly with the straight drop links.

Oak,

I don't believe you can use the stiffer adjustment holes with the straight drop links.

cjv, yes you are correct. I have found that with the FWD of the turbo and going full tight on the sways unduces exrteme understeer. Curious, Is your set at full tight?, If anything to help reduce the understeer looser will help neaturalize the already natural heavy feel of FWD. The stiffer adjustents wouldn't be even used with most turbo owners. Have you noticed more feeling of deflections with the curved ones?

Oak,

I am currently setup full stiff in the rear and softer in the front. Full stiff up front does exactly what you said.

I am running a combination of turbo and GT3 and modified parts up front. The biggest upgrade performance wise is the wider front tires and defeating the throttle body shutdown on the PSM.

greypiks - I haven't tried the new H&R's. I've been thinking that perhaps they would have been a better choice. Wheather they would require curved front drop links or not, who knows. Anyone have experience with the new H&R's ???

I didn't know that the straight drop links would fit on a turbo. I have a front bar that I have not installed due to that fact. I will be taking the car to the dealer for some preventative maintanance after a track day, so I will see if he is able to fit the sway bar with the straight link.

James has a set of curvies for sale. PM me if you want his info.

Oak - I was using the JIC D.L.s not stockers. They look very similiar to yours.
