That second vid shows how disruptive PSM is. Coming back on and braking when you don't want it to and actually causing more rotation than less.

On a side note there, that car seems like it has a lot less understeer than the US models.

Great Vids... but these must be around 10 years old now... how time goes by!

I have the DVD - it was made in 2002 (7-8 years old). It is interesting to note that the 997.1 Turbo was much more stable in terms of gizmo-based traction controls, but they have made the 997.2 Turbo much more like the 996 Turbo to put back some of the "fun" of driving a tail-happy Porsche.

I have always like the 'Best Motoring' series from Japan better than the goofy commentators and audience on 'Top Gear' from the U.K.

That was pretty good, not many things on YouTube keep my interest that long - thanks! A shame the Modenna held up the GT-R as long as it did though in the last one, I was really expecting it to handle the Porsche Hrm and I agree on the second video showing how the PSM can get in the way. However for a driver such as myself it's probably more likely to save my *** than bother me!

Got to love this. The driving and all the video, the Turbo is actually a really nice looking car even without lowering kits and GT2 aero. Very nice footage.

Those low et times don't really match with their MPH. F car 12.392@106.82mph , NSX 12.887@100.16mph , GTR 13.031@98.23mph. Shouldn't 106mph be a mid-high 13's RWD car, 100mph should be a high 13's RWD car and 98mph should be a high 13's AWD car?

Yeah, good point. With a good launch 106 mph can be low 13's high 12's. But highly unlikely a 12.3 unless it's a mustang with slicks.

Another buddy sent me the same 6 video links and I have to say I really did enjoy watching them. I enjoy the different perspective that Best Motoring bring to their tests and comparison tests, and it was cool seeing them do the same with the 996TT. I do wish they had the 2001 Corvette Z06 in there for comparison instead of the Z51, but what can you do?

Great vids! 4:10 into vid #3 pretty sums up the car for me.
"Yeah it's fast but you don't feel the speed when you're not driving it against another car"
