I started taking him into work.. He seems to like it here and just sleeps (except when I fire my POS up).

I know there are things I could and should do to make the car properly set up for the drag strip but in all honesty I tried to make my car a jack of all trades, which also means it's a master of "none". Some of those decisions don't bode well for the drag strip. Good for the track, street and drag strip. With tripple adjustable JRZs, very stiff springs, monoballs throughout it doesn't transfer weight as well as a stock TT does during a drag-style launch. It's also a fine line between traction and power then of course braking stuff....If I run a 10 this weekend then great and if not no worries, I'm sure someone soon with a 996TT (cough cough, Todd/Mike, Stephen, Mowblogo, CJV, Fred etc...) will do it...
One thing I do know is that doing simple math online with those calculators is one thing but actually going to the drag strip with these cars with many more variables and knocking out a 10 is another. That can be said for any car...

Its all about the traction.

It ain't as easy as it looks!
Kudos to those of you game enough to put your money where your mouth is with the drag strip and your pride and joy!
One of the really great things about drag racing is that your trap speed can not and does not lie. Trap speed is a very accurate indicator of engine power. Once you know the car's weight and your trap speed you can nail the rwhp.

It seems the average driver pulls mid 12s to mid 13s out of a stock 996tt. Our best 1/4 time out of a stock 2003 996tt X50 is 11.85 and a little over 120 mph. This was with a 1.9 60ft and about 12 inches of rollout on a cool Arizona winter day at about 1400 ft above sea level, stock tires.
I know a couple guys with a stage 4s. One of them seems to hit around low 13s at about 115 mph in 70F to 80Fish weather.
It would be good to see the following combined:
* Time slip, or et and trap by G-Tech
* RWHP
* rear tire size
* Weight
This wouldl allow folks to compare "stage kits" with real world results.
Sure, it does not take into account the driver, but it is a start.
I for one am a terrible starter...with a 3600 lb 928 making 450 rwhp on street tires managed a best of 11.28 at 128 mph best....just before the clutch shredded! Lets jsut say it was a darn stinky ride home
Lets collect some data and see where it leads us..

The g-tech stuff is actually pretty useless I think (I have the newest unit) and on the street I've tried it before. Last time it did a 10.6 @ 137mph but I would take that with a grain of salt... Most people want the time slip....
It is hard to launch any RWD car with 350 plus rwhp... AWD turbos are even worse since you give it too much and it bogs. Too little and it's crap....

Alex,
Can you please post your corrected or uncorrected dyno chart......did you use Shivs?
At 750 crank, should be about 600 awhp min...right?
Thanks.

Not good...It should be at the 600 mark you are correct. No dyno sheets but the car will be going down to Garret's house of love for tuning early next year. I don't have a dyno plot for this current set up. I might be using the 750 kit but I also have some other extras in it.....
There are also a lot of issues just getting a Tip to do a full pull. Nobody has yet perfected that
